Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer is set to miss the rest of the season after suffering a fractured rib.

Neuer missed Bayern’s 4-2 home win over Heidenheim due to injury, while the Bavarians are next due to a clash with Ukrainian powerhouse Shakhtar Donetsk at a neutral venue in Gelsenkirchen, Germany.

Bayern Munich coach Vincent Kompany has revealed that the 39-year-old goalkeeper has suffered a fractured rib, forcing him to replace him with Daniel Peretz.

“He is unlikely to play again this year. We expect him to be back in January,” Kompany said on Monday.
